Chris Jones co-presenting at SCUP 2016 North Atlantic Conference
On Tuesday, March 22nd, Chris Jones will be co-presenting “A New Institute for Data Science Creates a Framework for Placemaking” at the SCUP North Atlantic Conference in New York City. The University of Rochester established an Institute for Data Science to broaden the field of computer science through the research and development of big data analytics. At the same time, the university had increasingly outdated facilities, isolated departments, and a campus quadrangle divided by a major roadway. Through a competition format, two projects (now under construction) attempt to nest the physical, environmental, and infrastructural needs of the campus while creating an innovative program that crosses disciplines and captures the imagination of students and faculty.
Chris is currently working with the University on the design and construction of a new quad and adjacent green spaces associated with the new Science and Engineering building.
